What is Navgrah Shanti Puja?

Vedic astrology reads a birth chart through nine grahas: Surya, Chandra, Mangal, Budh, Guru, Shukra, Shani, Rahu and Ketu. A Navgrah Shanti puja (also written navagraha shanti) offers prayer to all nine in one ritual, rather than to a single graha.

Families often choose it when several grahas are under discussion at once, before an important beginning, or simply as a prayer for balance and peace in the home.

How the puja is traditionally done

  1. Sankalp: the pandit takes the name of the person the puja is for, the gotra if the family knows it, and the purpose of the puja.
  2. Ganesh puja and kalash sthapana: as per tradition, every puja begins with Lord Ganesh.
  3. Main puja and mantra jaap for the deity or graha the puja is offered to.
  4. Havan, aarti and daan, as the vidhi requires.

The pandit explains the exact vidhi, the mantra jaap and anything you need to arrange when you book, before you pay.
