Guidance, not guarantees
Guna milan is a traditional tool. A high score does not guarantee a happy marriage, and a low score does not doom one. Compatibility also depends on values, communication, family understanding and effort. We will tell you what the charts suggest. The decision, and the relationship, are yours.
Frequently asked questions about guna milan scores
What is a "good" guna milan score?
Traditionally, a score of 18 or more out of 36 is treated as acceptable, 25 to 32 as good, and above 32 as very good. These bands are conventions, not rules of fate, and we look at the individual kootas, not just the total.
Our score is below 18. Does that mean we should not marry?
Not by itself. A low total is a reason to look more closely, not a final verdict. We'll explain which kootas are low, what tradition says about them, and whether other chart factors are relevant. Families should make the decision with all the facts, not out of fear.
What is Nadi dosha?
Nadi carries the highest weight (8 points). When both charts share the same Nadi, it scores 0, and tradition calls this Nadi dosha. Classical texts also describe situations where it is considered cancelled. We'll check that for your charts and explain it plainly.
What is Bhakoot dosha?
Bhakoot (7 points) looks at the relative positions of the two Moon signs. Certain combinations score 0 and are called Bhakoot dosha. As with Nadi, there are traditional cancellation conditions, which we check.
One of us is Manglik. Is that a problem?
Being Manglik is common and is not a reason for alarm. Tradition considers whether both charts are Manglik and whether cancellation conditions apply. We'll explain your situation calmly. We do not use Manglik status to frighten anyone into buying remedies.
Can you match charts without an exact birth time?
The Ashtakoota score mainly depends on the Moon's position, so an approximate time often still gives a usable score. The Manglik check and house analysis are less reliable without an exact time, and we'll tell you so.
Can you "fix" a low match or guarantee the marriage will work?
No. Nobody can honestly guarantee that. If tradition offers optional practices, we can tell you about them, but they are not a guarantee.
