What is Ketu Puja (Ketu Shanti)?

Ketu is the second of the two shadow grahas in Vedic astrology, always exactly opposite Rahu in the chart. In the Vimshottari dasha system, Ketu Mahadasha lasts 7 years.

Tradition links Ketu with detachment, spiritual search and sudden change. A Ketu Shanti puja is a prayer offered to Ketu, usually during a Ketu dasha or when a kundli reading draws attention to Ketu's placement.

When families usually choose Ketu puja

How the puja is traditionally done

  1. Sankalp: the pandit takes the name of the person the puja is for, the gotra if the family knows it, and the purpose of the puja.
  2. Ganesh puja and kalash sthapana: as per tradition, every puja begins with Lord Ganesh.
  3. Main puja and mantra jaap for the deity or graha the puja is offered to.
  4. Havan, aarti and daan, as the vidhi requires.

The pandit explains the exact vidhi, the mantra jaap and anything you need to arrange when you book, before you pay.
